Precious Assurance

Seas of sorrow, seas of trial
Bitterest anguish, fiercest pain
Rolling surges of temptation
Sweeping over heart and brain-
They shall never overflow us
For we know His word is true,
All His waves and all His billows
He will lead us safely THROUGH

Threatening breakers of destruction
Doubt's insidioius undertow
Shall not sink us, shall not drag us
Out to ocean depths of woe;
For His promise shall sustain us,
Praise the Lord, whose Word is true!
We shall not go down, or under
For He saith, " Thou passest THROUGH."
                            Anne Johnson Flint

As you'd see this is not my thought nor the poem I wrote or I could write. My insight and faith hasn't yet gone to that width and depth for me to create a thought provoking and heart-drawing poem like this. So, I had to borrow it from my devotional Streams in the Desert to put it in a blog so that it could bless those who happens to read it.

Yes, I totally agree with the author of this poem in that when we're in Christ, however anguish and pain we suffer and doubts that threaten to blow our heads, we will not go down as sunken ship but we will pass THROUGH because He who promised that He'll never leave nor fail us will be with us in the storm. That is the Precious thought and the Good News to share with the rest of the world!

Do not Pray Yourself out of Faith

" Believe and trust: through stars and suns
Through life and death, through soul and sense
                      His wise, paternal purpose runs
                      The darkness of His Providence
                       Is starlit with Divine intent."

I don't know who wrote the above stanza, but I love what it says. It's in my devotional Streams in the Desert for today's date, January 4th.  Today's message clarifies what true faith is and what we need to pray about.

Do not pray yourself out of faith, the author stresses and I found it difficult to comprehend it at first. But thinking it deeper, I come to realize that I had prayed myself out of faith many times. Yes, I do pray at times not believing to get the results I've prayed for. If I'm correct, that's what the author is warning about-Do not pray yourself out of faith.

Praying for the sake of praying  cannot be considered a prayer of faith. Why do we then pray, if we think that what we pray for is not going to be received. Maybe somewhere in the closet on our mind, we've already determined that the thing or the matter we're praying about is too big for God to handle or God is too far away to hear our petition. Or we are too unworthy for God to care about. Yet, we pray despite our unbelief and unworthyness.

God in His mercy who knows us inside out chooses to answer our prayers despite our flaws at times. However He delights in prayers enveloped in faith- mustard sized, childlike or steadfast.

"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing you will receive." Mathew 21:22

Jesus said to the centurion, " Go your way: and as you have believed so let it be done for you." Mathew7:13

And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, " Do you believe that I'm able to do this?"
They said to Him," Yes, Lord."
Then He touched their eyes saying, " According to your faith let it be to you." And their eyes were opened.

O Lord, let our eyes too be opened to see Your power and glory as those blind men's did. Help us to grow in our faith, so that we would pray in faith according to Your will.

To know your will , we need to walk closer to You and to pray in faith, we need to trust in Your word. Let us not pray ourselves out of faith in our sloppiness and unbelief.
Instead, let me make You say as You said to the woman from Sidon, " O woman, great is your faith! let it be to you as you desire."

Happy New Year-2011!

A new year has dawned
2011 is here for us to celebrate
And to stay with us for the next twelve months.
A decade had passed
since we celebrated the Millenium

Yes, time is flying
we are racing
and today we're standing at the entrance
of a brand New Year.

We welcome you 2011
with hope and dreams for a great year
We pray that you'd bring good tidings to us all
we pray that people will turn more towards God
and less towards unimportant things on heaven's view

We pray that families will grow stronger
Leaders would lead with Godly wisdom
Preachers will preach God's message, and not their own
Churches will grow more in holiness and devotion to God
People will be drawn to Christ  and not run away from Him
because of us, Christians , what we do or not do

We pray that God will bless us with providence
protection and wisdom to have a great year
that He will direct the path of our country
and the will of the people to His glory
We pray that the soil of the land
and the soul of the people will flourish this year
We pray that the world will be a safer and better place this year
For God's people choose to love, live  and pray as their Lord taught them to do.

Happy New Year!
May God bless us all for a bright and happy year!***
